1. Who We Are

NZ Business Tools is an independent software review website operated from New Zealand. We publish honest comparisons, reviews, and guides to help Kiwi small businesses find the right software tools. Our website is available at nzbusinesstools.co.nz.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only what we need to operate this site. That includes:

  • Email addresses — if you voluntarily subscribe to our mailing list via the email signup form. This is optional.
  • Anonymous usage data — pages viewed, time on page, traffic source, and device type, collected via Google Analytics. This data cannot identify you personally.
  • Affiliate tracking data — if you click an affiliate link, the affiliate network may set a cookie to track whether a purchase is made. We do not receive personally identifiable information from these networks.

We do not collect names, physical addresses, phone numbers, or payment information.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Email addresses are used solely to send you our newsletter — software recommendations, new reviews, and deals relevant to NZ businesses. We do not sell or share your email with third parties for marketing purposes.
  • Analytics data is used in aggregate to understand which content is most useful and to improve the site. We do not use analytics to profile individuals.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:

MailerLite

Email list management and newsletter delivery. Your email address is stored on MailerLite's servers. MailerLite is GDPR-compliant. See mailerlite.com/privacy-policy.

Google Analytics

Anonymous website analytics. Google may process data in the US. You can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

PartnerStack

Affiliate tracking network. Sets cookies when you click affiliate links to track referrals. See partnerstack.com/privacy.

5. NZ Privacy Act 2020

NZ Business Tools complies with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to any legal retention obligations)
  • Withdraw consent to email marketing at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email we send

To exercise these rights, contact us directly (see Section 9 below).

6. Australian Privacy Act 1988

For Australian readers, NZ Business Tools acknowledges the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Australian Privacy Act 1988. We collect only the minimum information necessary, store it securely, and do not use it for purposes beyond those disclosed in this policy. If your data is transferred outside Australia (e.g., to MailerLite or Google), we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to an equivalent standard.

7. Cookies

This site uses cookies for two purposes: anonymous analytics (Google Analytics) and affiliate link tracking (PartnerStack and direct affiliate networks). Cookies do not identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time — this will not affect your ability to read our content. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact

For privacy enquiries, requests to access or delete your data, or any concerns about how we handle your information, please reach out via the contact details on our site. We will respond within 20 working days as required by the NZ Privacy Act 2020.
